Award winning sustainable Clothing

In 2024, I was honored to receive the Federation of Small Business Sustainability Award for the North East of England.

For a one-woman business operating from a garden studio in County Durham, this recognition was both unexpected and immensely encouraging. I’m incredibly proud of the sustainable clothing I create, and having it acknowledged by the FSB judges reinforces that you don’t need to be a large international fashion brand to make a significant impact in the sustainable fashion industry.

Sustainability is the backbone of my business. From the moment second-hand luxury clothing arrives at my studio, I carefully track its environmental footprint throughout the entire production and sales process. When customers are ready to part with their garments, I offer a transparent returns and repurposing service, ensuring nothing ends up in a landfill. This is genuine, award-winning sustainable fashion.

Small Awards Sole Trader

In 2023, I was also shortlisted in the Sole Trader category of the Small Awards, which celebrate the vital contributions small businesses make to both the economy and their local communities.

Being a sole trader, especially in the early stages, can often mean struggling for recognition and respect from larger business networks. This acknowledgment gave me the confidence to expand my sustainable clothing business and explore new opportunities for growth and funding.

Living North has followed the journey of my award winning sustainable fashion business from its early beginnings to my first full year of trading. You can read the entire story here.

In June 2024, I had the incredible experience of attending Glastonbury for the first time—as a trader! I never imagined I’d be offered a spot, and while I was thrilled, I was equally terrified. It was a fantastic opportunity to showcase my award winning sustainable clothing to a much larger audience, and Glastonbury exceeded all expectations.

The Guardian even featured my story as a newcomer to the world’s most iconic music festival.
